Regional Analysis and Refinement: Government Service Delivery Regions

In March of 2015, the Council on Virginia’s Future published “Regional Analysis and Refinement: Government Service Delivery Regions” as a part of its “Issue Insight Series.”

This report provides an overview of various existing regional arrangements used by federal, state, and local government agencies in Virginia. The contained in this Issue Insight is focused on systems and regions that relate to:

  • Education and Workforce Development
  • Health and Welfare Services
  • Economic and Community Development
  • Transportation
  • Other (environmental)

This issue allows readers to visualize the similarities and differences in the regional delivery of governmental services across the Commonwealth.
